Automatic Driving Lessons
Southampton, Salisbury, Andover, Winchester and Portsmouth.
As we go hurtling into the 21st century more and more cars are on the road are automatic, and do you know why? Because the public are fed up with slow moving traffic and having to work through the gears, in short it is a pain.
However there are so many other advantages to driving an automatic car we thought we should share a few with you right now. With no gears and only 2 pedals this has to be the biggest advantage, all you need to do is steer and just use one foot for both braking and accelerating. When you do not have to think about taking your left handoff the steering wheel to move the gear stick, and moving your left foot onto the clutch all while you are trying to steer, driving becomes a doddle.
With automatic lessons you learn in a very relaxed environment with no clutch or gears, as the car selects the gear for you, leaving you to speed up and slow down only.
Automatic suits many people and millions of drivers all over the world drive this way. If you have a back injury, problem with legs or a disability Automatic can help as less movements and pressure needed when driving. If you suffer severe co ordination issues or suffer anxiety Automatic is the way forwards. Our amazing Mini Cooper Automatic is a comfortable and easy to drive car, along with expert tuition you can’t go wrong.
Many learner driver struggle with two areas, gears and road positioning. Imagine you are on a road with a 50mph limit, you want to turn left and there are cars and lorries driving towards you. You need to change down your gears, steer with one hand for a moment, keep your eye on the road, press the clutch, slow down, change gear…all while you are trying to find a safe position on the road so you can turn left. Now that’s quite a lot to do and there is so much more we could have added.
Wouldn’t life be simpler if you kept your eyes on the road and your hands on the steering wheel while you just braked and then accelerated? This is exactly why automatic cars are popular.
When you learn to drive in an automatic car you can also save time and money, as you will not need to learn how to use the clutch, so you will not be needing those lessons, therefore saving lots of time and money.
We would be delighted if you chose to drive with us here at Lendrums Driving School and with our wealth of experience and knowledge you will soon be getting ready to drive by yourself.
We have a range of driving lessons for you to choose from and your first lesson will be dictated by the course you take, but the course itself is tailored to your personal needs. So for example if you have never driven before we will probably start in a very quiet area free of traffic, but if you have recently been driving and confident to get going we can be more open to where you start.
Here is an overview of our courses…
On your first lesson you will learn exactly what you need to do to pass your driving test and within a few minutes you will be driving. Allow us to explain… Most learner drivers think that if they are a safe driver then they will pass, but that is not quite true and there are other important factors you must include in your driving and you will start that on your first lesson.
Your driving examiner is actually looking for you to be safe, in control of the car and aware of your surroundings. Now if you tick those boxes you are going to pass. So here is a little detail for you. If you are reversing and your back tyre goes up the kerb it does not mean you will fail as long as you are in control of the car, you are others and safe, you are aware of your surroundings and you correct your manoeuvre.
When you finish your first lesson you will have taken on a lot of information, and you will be ready for your second lesson. We will give you our learning to drive syllabus which indicates the skills you are learning, the skills you need to cover and at what level you have achieved so far. When you just start to learn a new skill you are marked as being introduced to the skill but when you are competent and don’t need the instructors help you are classed as being independent. Once you are independent in all areas you are 100% prepared to pass your driving test and you will have the confidence as well.
When you phone Lendrums Driving School if you have been driving already please tell us about your experience. It doesn’t matter if you have been training with another school or having a go with friends and family you experience will count. What we would like to do is save you time and money, so the good news is you will not have to start from the beginning, in fact we will use your skills and confidence as a stepping stone to passing your test.
Assuming you have passed your theory test already do not be surprised if we ask you to book your driving test. Let us show you why…You may need another 20 hours of tuition to be ready to impress the examiner and if the next test is only 5 weeks away you could easily do 4 hours a week if that suited you.
If you have been failing your driving test on multiple occasions we know why and we know it is not your fault. Ok so you may feel perhaps you were a bit too confident but to be honest if have not completed the learning to drive syllabus then you are not ready and your previous instructor should have not let you take the test.
The reason why you are failing is due to preparation and confidence. Because you are not 100% prepared you slip up in the test, so what we are going to do is put that right and it all starts with your first phone call to us. We want you to tell us your story, explain what has been happening and give us your thoughts. Then take a lesson, show us your skills and our team of instructors will show you exactly where you need to improve and importantly will show you how.
We are going to build your confidence by showing you just how good a driver you are and then using those skills to improve your areas of weakness. You will be going into your next test 100% prepared and confident.
It may surprise you to know that this is a very popular course because there are so many people who do feel nervous when it comes to driving. The thing is, not many people tell their friends how nervous they are…people keep it quiet.
And we know there are so many reasons to feel anxious about driving, whether it’s related to previous driving experience, things you have been told or perhaps you doubt your own ability. However you feel we have the skills and patience to help you build your confidence and take control.
We are not going to rush you, push you and we would never dream of shouting. What we are going to do is work together as a team, you and us. You will learn at the pace which suits you and soon you will be driving and feeling good about it.
